Spiked dog collars: a lot of dog owners love them and find them awesome. You’ll typically see them on boy dogs, and these collars project the image of a badass, therefore making you, the owner, seem like a powerful person for being able to tame and control this big, hulking, muscular and powerful badass of a beast! Hahaha

In all seriousness, you’ll often see these on pit bull dogs, as owners look to make their dogs look as fierce and tough as possible, and I have to admit: these spiky dog collars do actually suit the bigger, stronger breeds well.
With that said, you’ll often see little dogs sporting a spiked dog collar, as well! It’s not always about the size of the dog, but rather the size of the dog’s attitude! And spiked dog collars can definitely help your dog project a lot of character and attitude if he (or she!) has got the personality and energy to go with it.
But it’s definitely a personal choice. I know some dog owners who think the idea of having your dog wear spikes around his neck is borderline barbaric and cruel and not cool in any way, shape, or form. They think that dogs should be treated only with love and kindness (and kid gloves,) and they can be a bit soft with their dogs.

Personally, I love my dogs to death, but I also understand that they are, in fact, dogs, and as such they definitely have that hearty, durable, ruggedness to them that is part of all dogs in the first place. And to have them wear a collar that emphasizes that toughness and strength is only natural if it happens to look good on the particular dog I’m putting it on. So I have no qualms about having my dog wear a spiked dog collar. And I’m guessing you don’t either–why would you read this if you did?
